During each survey, you will have the opportunity to leave comments for your manager. Our comments feature is a powerful tool that allows you to elaborate on your experience at work, make suggestions, and/or explain your pulse responses all of this while protecting your anonymity.
Remember, just like every other element of the pulse, comments are left anonymously, so, your manager won't be able to see your name when you leave one. However, your manager can respond to your comment and you will be able to see their name when they do.
We understand that at times you might be frustrated, or feel unheard but always try to write comments with the same professionalism you usually exhibit when speaking with a coworker in the workplace.
How to Leave Constructive Comments
- Comments can be left under a driver question to elaborate on your response (below #4) or at the end of the pulse to provide general feedback (below #1).
- Before you finalize each comment, always ask yourself “Would it be appropriate to say this to my manager directly?"
- If no, try expressing yourself in a different way so that the answer is yes.
- Below are examples of the same workplace issue written appropriately and inappropriately.
Remember, comments can be your most effective tool for opening lines of communication with your manager. The anonymity that Butterfly provides allows you to talk about things you might not otherwise feel comfortable with/or have the time to discuss during a typical workday. However, Butterfly comments require the same level of professionalism as all other workplace communication.
For your manager to hear what you're saying, you must use respectful language.
